How ChargedCT Works

You send an inquiry

The form asks for the minimum needed for an attorney to call you back: your name, a phone number, the charge, the town where the arrest happened or the court, your next court date if you know it, and how and when to reach you. An email address and a short note are optional.

It deliberately does not ask what happened. Do not describe the incident in the note, in a chat, or in a voicemail. Anything you write down can be requested later, and the attorney who calls you will ask for exactly what they need, in a conversation protected by privilege once you hire them. Until then, the safest version of your story is the one you have not told anyone.

The whole form takes about a minute.

Where your inquiry goes

During this initial phase, inquiries sent through ChargedCT go to Baber Law, LLC, the Connecticut criminal defense firm that owns and operates this site. There is no panel of other firms yet, so there is nothing to choose among: every inquiry reaches the same firm, and it reaches it directly.

ChargedCT expects to add participating attorneys who pay an advertising fee to receive inquiries. When that happens, inquiries will be routed among those attorneys by court and charge category, and this page will change to describe how that works before any inquiry is sent to anyone else.

Sending an inquiry does not make you a client of Baber Law, LLC or of any other lawyer. Nothing you send through this site creates an attorney-client relationship, and you are free to speak with any lawyer you like before deciding who to hire.

Who owns this site

ChargedCT is owned by Baber Law, LLC. The responsible lawyer is Nate Baber, Juris Number 447244.

What to do now

You will usually hear from an attorney within the hour during the day, or first thing in the morning if you send this overnight.
